A Peak Into My Ideal Classroom
General Classroom Environment Factors
Lower lighting, although it is not practical for all learning situations, will be used in class as much as possible. By reducing lighting students have a calm, cool, classroom that contributes to a more focused, successful atmosphere. Along with lower classroom lighting my walls will stand out by incorporating student work and informational posters. These walls content will be constantly changing, keeping them relevant, which will help to engage students throughout the year.
Student Desk Arrangement
In my classroom desks arranged in a U-shaped formation. This strategy puts students in a total of two rows which allows each student to have a clear view of the board giving them that “Front Row" feeling. This shape also makes it easy to switch up the seating arrangement. The U-Shape also makes it possible to easily move desks as needed use group work within lessons.
Teacher Desk Arrangement
Teacher desk placement in my classroom will be in the far corner across from the door entering the classroom. By having the desk placed in this area I will be able to see all areas in the classroom as well seeing people who are approaching the classroom door. Both of these factors contribute to classroom safety. In addition to placement my desk will be easily approachable for students this means having the desk organized and free of clutter. This area will also be used for a more private, individual space to hold student conferences.
Specifically Themed Spaces
In my classroom there will be various areas designed to facilitate the multiple types of learning that will be happening daily throughout the year. These spaces are designed to engage and promote student learning by creating various spaces encouraging human interaction and communication. The zones located throughout the classroom align my goal of creating an engaging, efficient, goal oriented space for students to thrive in.
